Artist Statement

Many people focus on the beauty of nature, yet man-made creations and technology can be just as beautiful. A prime example of this is mechanical objects. These objects may look monotonous to some, but I am truly fascinated by how these components are constructed and the unconventional designs you can make from them. This sole interest is the main point of my project.

Mechanical objects, specifically vehicles, firearms, and buildings, are created with a large amount of  parts that all work together flawlessly. These motions give the objects a heartbeat that many overlook. I want to show these motions, the life of an object, for the way that I see them. I want to implement the rigid design of an object with the liveliness that it delivers. One of my major influences to bringing motion and objects to life is impressionist art.

Before attending college I was mainly influenced by concept artwork, the speed of how they were done combined with the qualities of a painting. These designs led me to attend school and to learn more about art. Ever since that day, I was introduced to many different styles of art including impressionism and I wanted to learn more about it. Impressionism paintings brought people to life and motion to objects with a limited amount of strokes. This is the style that I am looking for.
